Elly Braund

Elly Braund - Dancer

Elly Braund trained at Laban, graduating in 2011. At Laban, she performed in works by Kerry Nicholls and Gary Lambert. She also worked with Kerry Nicholls on a commission for Purbeck Arts Week 2011, in a collaborative piece with Meridian Brass, AVE MARIS STELLA. In 2011, she performed Nicholls' choreography at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations for the 1951 Festival of Britain. Elly joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an Apprentice in 2011.

Nathan Goodman

Nathan Goodman - Dancer

Nathan Goodman was born in London and began his training at the Brit School for Performing Arts and Technology (2002-06), completing his BTEC National Diploma in Dance as well as Dance A Level. He continued his training at London Contemporary Dance School. During his time at LCDS he worked with Raymond Chai, Jeannie Steele, Laurent Cavanna and Sasha Roubieck. Nathan has studied works by Richard Alston, Jan de Schynkel, Merce Cunningham and Siobhan Davies, including numerous performances at Robin Howard Dance Theatre. In 2008 Nathan performed in Breaking Convention at Sadler's Wells with Plague (UK). He joined Richard Alston Dance Company in 2009.

Zeynep Kepekli

Zeynep Kepekli- Production Manager

After finishing her Degree at University of Istanbul, Turkey , Zeynep moved to London and started working in theatre. She fell in to the Dance world when she started working at The Royal Opera House, after working with theatre companies such as The Arcola, The Old Vic, Royal Shakespeare Company and many more.
She joined Richard Alston Dance Company in 2009 as a Stage Manager and became the Production Manager a year after.

Hannah Kidd

Hannah Kidd - Dancer

Hannah Kidd was born in Oxford, and began her training at Elmhurst Ballet School. From Elmhurst, she went on to continue her training at London Contemporary Dance School. While at LCDS, she worked with Hofesh Schechter and Jeannie Steele (formerly of Merce Cunningham Dance Company) and in 2009 completed her Master's degree with Distinction. Hannah has a keen interest in costume design and has begun designing for dance: her work was featured in The Place Prize 2010. She joined Richard Alston Dance Company in 2007.

Martin Lawrance

Martin Lawrance - Rehearsal Director

Martin Lawrance was born in Leicester and began dancing with Leicester Youth Dance Theatre under the direction of Sue Rosenbloom. He trained at Coventry Centre for the Performing Arts from 1989 – 1991 and at London Contemporary Dance School from 1991 – 1994. He performed with the postgraduate performance group 4D where he first worked with Richard Alston. Martin has restaged 10 of Richard Alston's choreographies, in Britain and overseas. In 2000, Martin was invited by the Meltdown Festival on the South Bank to make Thimble Rigging, to an original score by Scott Walker. He has created three works for London Contemporary Dance School, and two works for the State School of Dance in Athens, where he created Grey Allegro and Silken Steel. In June 2003, Martin presented a full evening of his work at The Place, and in 2004 Charge was commissioned for The Place Prize, sponsored by Bloomberg. Grey Allegro and Charge were subsequently taken into the Richard Alston Dance Company repertoire. More recently, for RADC, he created About Face, Brink, Body & Soul and To Dance And Skylark. In November 2007, Martin retired from dancing and is now RADC's Rehearsal Director.

Andrew Macleman

Andrew Macleman - Apprentice Dancer

Andrew Macleman trained at London Contemporary Dance School, graduating in 2012 with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree. Whilst training, Andrew performed works by Siobhan Davies and Richard Alston and also choreographed several works, one was invited to join a line-up at A Celebration of Bob Lockyer at The Place. Andrew joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an Apprentice in 2012.

Nancy Nerantzi

Nancy Nerantzi - Dancer

Nancy Nerantzi trained at the National Ballet School of Greece, gaining a Diploma in Ballet and Contemporary Dance in 2007 and a Teaching Diploma in 2010. In 2008, she joined the National Dance Company of Wales as an apprentice, gaining on completion a Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School. Before joining Richard Alston Dance Company, she also performed with the National Ballet of Greece (2005-06), Ballet Junior de Geneve (2009-10), with whom she performed works by Alexander Ekman, Andonis Foniadakis, Guelherme Botelho and Patrick Delcroix among others, Hellenic Dance Company (2010), with whom she danced in Richard Alston's Gypsy Mixture and Martin Lawrance's Duet For Clapping Music, and Aenaon Chorotheatro Daniel Lommel (2011). She joined Richard Alston Dance Company in 2011.

James Pett

James Pett - Dancer

James Pett trained as a gymnast for ten years before joining Laban, graduating with a First in Dance Theatre in 2011. In 2009 he performed in Underdrome, choreographed by Darren Johnston, and with Gill Clark. In 2010 he worked with Patricia Lent on Merce Cunningham's Scramble, and in 2011 with Kerry Nicholls on a collaborative piece with Meridian Brass, Ave Maris Stella. James joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an Apprentice in 2011.

Liam Riddick

Liam Riddick - Dancer

Liam Riddick trained in contemporary dance at Cross Keys College, Newport under the direction of Sue Lewis. At college he was a member of Blaenau Gwent Youth Dance Company, The Move and an associate with National Dance Company Wales. He was a Royal Ballet Associate before joining London Contemporary Dance School in 2007. At LCDS, he performed choreography by Richard Alston, Siobhan Davies and Aletta Collins. In 2009, he performed in Underdrome, choreographed by Darren Johnston, and has since been in a number of student workshop performances and projects performed in Robin Howard Dance Theatre. With James Cousins Dance he has performed in Spain and Italy and at Buckingham Palace. Liam joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an apprentice in 2010, becoming a full company member on 2011.

 Monique Smith-McDowell

Monique Smith-McDowell - Apprentice Dancer

Monique Smith-McDowell competed as a gymnast for 10 years before training at London Contemporary Dance School, graduating in 2012. While at LCDS she performed choreography by Richard Alston, Jiří Kylián and Sue MacLennan. In 2011, Monique worked with Barak Marshall, performing in Rooster as part of dance umbrella.

Katherine Rothman

Katherine Rothman - Programme Leader, Essential Alston

Following graduation from Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance with a First Class honours degree, Katherine decided to work behind the scenes rather than pursue a career on stage. Originally gaining experience in the office at Central School of Ballet, she moved to The Place in 2009 and has looked after the education programme for the Richard Alston Dance Company since then.

Isabel Tamen

Isabel Tamen - Executive Director

Isabel trained as a dancer at both the Gulbenkian Ballet School in Lisbon and at the London Contemporary Dance School. She was a founder member of Images Dance Company (1986–88), a dancer with London Contemporary Dance Theatre (1988–94) and a founder member of the Richard Alston Dance Company (1994–99). Isabel also performed in several of Henri Oguike’s early works prior to the formation of the Henri Oguike Dance Company. In April 1999 she retrained into arts management under the supervision of Tim Tubbs and joined Independance (London Independent Management Agency) supported by London Arts. Isabel was Sakoba’s Education Officer (2000–02) and a member of the Hextable Dance Board between 2005 and 2007. Isabel was responsible for all management of the Henri Oguike Dance Company since its inception in 1999 until March 2009. Isabel re-joined the Richard Alston Dance Company as its Executive Director in April 2009.

Pierre Tappon

Pierre Tappon - Dancer

Pierre Tappon was born in Angoulême, France. He began his dance training at the Patricia Vaysse School of Dance. In 2002 he moved to Bordeaux in order to join the Junior Ballet D'Aquitaine under the direction of Daniel Agesilas. While dancing for the JBA he worked in various production of the Opera National de Bordeaux. He came to London to complete his dance training at the London Contemporary Dance School in 2005. Pierre completed a one year apprenticeship with Richard Alston Dance Company before joining as a full-time dancer in summer 2007. In 2009, Pierre completed his Master's degree with distinction. Pierre is also interested in choreography and teaching. He choreographed a Franco-Italian duet Under The Sign for the LCDS graduation performances and more recently got commissioned by the Center for Advance Training to create Surely There. Since 2010, Pierre is a full time teacher at the Center for Advance Training at The Place.

 Oihana Vesga Bujan

Oihana Vesga Bujan - Apprentice Dancer

Oihana Vesga Bujan trained in the Conservatoire National Maurice Ravel (Biarritz, France) before joining London Contemporary Dance School and graduating in 2012. A recipient of the Charlotte Kirkpatrick Award for Exceptional Potential as a Dance Artist, and first prize at the International Contemporary Dance Contest in Biarritz. In her final year at LCDS she was invited to join Richard Alston Dance Company for the creation and national touring of A Ceremony of Carols. Oihana joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an Apprentice in 2012.p>

Jack Wright

Jack Wright- Marketing Officer

Jack studied Drama at St Mary’s University College. After graduating he worked for Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Richmond Theatre, part of Ambassadors Theatre Group. He is responsible for marketing Richard Alston Dance Company’s performances, including overseeing the production of promotional materials, liaising with venues and updating the company’s digital media.
